Brittany is so good with my daughter. She is a lot of fun and is always cheerful. My daughter loves to play popular upbeat songs, and Brittany caught that early on. She incorporates as much of the pop songs in her lessons, as she does traditional classical music. My child plays so much better and with increased enthusiasm!
— Aruna, parent of middle school viola student

Music lessons can so often seem…

- Daunting -

- Intimidating -

- Frustrating -

But what if music lessons could be different?

What if music lessons could be an experience where students learn values AND life skills

while working through obstacles in a supportive & fun environment…

If you agree, then you are looking for a teacher who:

✔ encourages personal growth over perfectionism

✔ values personal confidence over comparison

✔ praises an individual’s personal effort over exertion

Hi there!

I’m Britt,

I am NOT the music teacher for you IF you are looking for...

Someone to doubt your abilities

A cookie cutter, one-size-fits all class structure

A traditional, rigid instruction guided by negative reinforcement

My method of teaching is focused on fostering mindfulness and a growth mindset.

Mentoring students through this lens gives them the guidance and tools to do their very best in any future pursuits in life, not just music!

My students learn that challenges and learning new things can be fun and rewarding instead of intimidating and scary!

They learn how to plan their own success as well as personal accountability!

My students’ wellbeing comes first in lessons!

I prioritize your child’s wellbeing and growth in every lesson.

My approach blends proven methods with personalized coaching that meets students where they are—without pressure or comparison.

Through positive reinforcement, mindful movement, and healthy practice habits, I help young musicians build confidence, skill, and a lifelong love of playing.

Mindful Musicianship Lessons

🎵 Any and all Musicians Welcome🎵

These sessions are for musicians seeking a more compassionate, holistic path — especially those recovering from rigid or harmful training.

Together, we rework negative thought patterns around practice and performance, explore body awareness and healthy posture through mindful movement, and incorporate yoga-based warm-ups and cool-downs. These lessons create space to honor your unique relationship with your instrument, support emotional well-being, and cultivate artistry grounded in presence, joy, and self-trust.

Unlike traditional lessons, these are less focused on technique or repertoire and more on supporting the whole musician — mentally, physically, and creatively.

What to Expect:

  • Reworking negative thought patterns around practicing and performing

  • Mindful body movement and positioning while playing

  • Yoga-based warm-ups and cool-downs to support ongoing wellness

  • Space to explore and redefine your personal connection to your instrument

  • Releasing your creativity from the confines of achievement-based ideals

  • A flexible, student-centered approach rooted in mindfulness and self-expression

These lessons can be taken in conjunction with your regular ongoing technical lessons to complement and enhance your overall musical journey.

Testimonials

Been taking lessons from Brittany for almost 3 years and I’ve come a long way. She’s always encouraging me and telling me how I’ve accomplished so much. She’s very understanding and calm during my lessons.
— Nancy, Adult Violin Student
My 5th grader started viola lessons with Brittany this fall. She had her heart set on playing the viola (NOT the violin! Lol) and I can’t believe how much she has learned in such a short time. She loves her online lessons with Brittany, and we feel so lucky to have found such a supportive, excellent teacher.
— Jackie Carano, Parent
Brittany is a great teacher! She combines music theory and note-reading in her teaching to allow you to understand the music that you are playing and not just play from memory. She very encouraging and supportive and makes class enjoyable. She’s open to introducing new material to accommodates students’ song requests, keeping the class challenging and interesting. She is very consistent in her teaching and gives you the tools to tackle new songs
— Sharon Cohen, Parent of Student & Adult Student herself
My 10 year old has been taking Viola lessons from Brittany... always patient, very good with kids who are also goofy :) and motivates them constantly.. very well organized, has lots of resources for all levels of kids, encourages kids and pushes them to do their best all the time. Even during pandemic, there was not even one day where class was canceled and zoom lessons have been going on smoothly. I thank Brittany for keeping my son motivated and encouraging him to do the best always!
— Lalitha Ramprasad, Parent

FAQs

Have questions after reading the following? Let me know!

Q: Are lessons in person or online?

I currently teach all of lessons ONLINE via Zoom as well as IN PERSON in Amesbury Massachusetts at Zach Field Drums & Music.

Zoom is an amazing online platform that works perfectly for lessons. Students enjoy learning from the comfort of their own home and parents love not having to drive their kids to one more activity.

Prefer in person? Work with me in Amesbury!

Q: How old does my child have to be to take lessons?

I teach students 8 years and older.

Q: I haven't played in years but I want to get back into lessons. How does it work for adult learners?

I work with you to assess your technique and come up with personal goals as far as practicing and music goes! You are fully in control! Think of me as more of a coach than teacher! I also offer various different lesson & practice plans to work with your busy schedule!

Q: Do I have to be present for my child's lessons?

Longterm no, but if your child is in elementary school I strongly suggest and request that you are present for our first couple of lessons so that you are aware of practice expectations and can help your child get into the habit of practicing at home. Eventually, they will be able to handle lessons and practicing on their own!

Q: Should I buy or rent an instrument?

I highly suggest renting as a beginner whether the student is a child or an adult. By renting you can get a better quality instrument for your money. Higher quality instruments are more expensive if you want to purchase, so renting is the best way to go at first. Also most stores have a rent to buy program where what you pay goes towards purchasing an instrument in the future! googling 'local strings shop' or 'local violin shop'. Whether you are purchasing or renting, strings shops specialize in violins/violas and will offer the best quality instruments. If the student is a child I strongly suggest renting over purchasing as they will grow and so will their instrument.

Q: How long are lessons?

All lessons are 45 minutes long. This allows us time for proper warm ups and cool downs.

Q: Do you offer make up lessons?

Certain packages of lessons include make up lessons. If you request a makeup 24+ hours before a scheduled lesson we will honor the makeup, any sooner is considered a last minute cancel with no make up.

Q: What is included in lessons?

Beginner students receive their own Beginner Workbook. Students also have exclusive access to their very own Practice Folder where they can access practice materials and sheet music! Now and then additional repertoire books need to be purchased by the student.

MY PHILOSOPHY AS A MUSIC TEACHER

At the heart of my teaching philosophy as a music teacher is that music changes lives and enables individuals to develop into well-rounded, disciplined, empathetic individuals. And patience is key! Everyone deserves the opportunity to explore music at some point in their life. It is never too late to discover its power!

The foundation of my teaching is based on technique, which I believe through dedicated practice develops into an individual musical style and musicianship. I also believe that music has no boundaries and every musician deserves to explore a diverse repertoire and musical genres, not only to develop their skills but also to develop a joy for playing.
